Two
former senior executives of Schenker USA have opened the first U.S. offices of a
German consulting firm specializing in freight forwarding and logistics.
Manfred Engst, former chief operating officer for the German-based freight
forwarding, is the president of Adi Management Consult Inc., based in Oceanside,
N.Y. Helmut Berchtold, Adi's executive vice president, is based in Escondido,
Calif. He was chief information officer of Schenker USA.
The firm's services are designed for forwarders, importers and exporters, said
Engst, who spent more than 25 years with Schenker before leaving the company in
October 2001.
"Adi recognizes the growing need of its clients on both sides of the Atlantic
for expert advice and support," Engst said. "Many transportation and logistics
companies, as well as importers and exporters, are experiencing a rapidly
growing need for complete, competent, and industry specific support and advise
from external sources. We have tailored our approach and product offering to
meet this demand."
The parent company, Adi Consult GmbH, is based in Frankfurt. Its clients include
US Freightways, Lufthansa Cargo and Schenker-Stinnes Logistics. The company
plans to launch a Singapore branch later this year.
Adi will emphasize such areas as operational consulting, personnel placement,
and mergers and acquisitions.
